First opening in 1976, New York City's Greenmarket has become the premier and largest farmers's market program, in the country. In peak season, Greenmarket operates 38 weekly open air farmers markets in 28 locations. Sixteen are open year-round. Greenmarket farmers own and/or lease approximately 16,000 acres of land for food production.
Over 100,000 customers frequent the markets every week in peak season. Two hundred and sixty farmers and food producers attend the markets including: 65 vegetable farmers 22 organic vegetable farmers 19 orchard growers 24 meat, dairy, poultry and fish producers 79 producers of baked goods, honey, maple syrup, jam, wine and plants.

Since 1985 Deep Mountain Maple has been THE Vermont Maple Syrup at Greenmarket. While most Vermont sugarmakers sell their product wholesale or by mail order, we have been making the 350 mile (one way) trip to New York City and the Green Market urban famer's market, weekly, for 15 years. We believe in the real market place, where people from all walks of life, country and city, rich and poor, come together to not only buy food, but really to celebrate food and get to know the people who produce what they eat.

This experience of knowing all of our customers personally has given us a unique insight into their deepest maple needs and desires.
